Default "Error, missing PACE authorization" with PT 2022.4 and iLok USB Key [FIXED 5/27]

Anyone else having Ptools crash/quit saying it has lost connection with Pace/iLok authorization???

With Pro Tools closed, Open your iLok manager.
Check if your iLok cloud session is closed. If it isn't, first switch your iLok cloud to "manual" management (show details and then you can change that) and then close the iLok cloud (right click and select close). It should grey out (fade back)

The latest iLok manager defaulted a iLok cloud in auto management mode. I have never used iLok cloud (intentionally) and yet there it was. And there were some secondary licenses in it. It's possible Pro Tools is opening using those licenses (one of those secondary was Pro Tools's backup license.)
And auto mode means it can reopen itself (which is why it should be switched to manual first.) For instance, if Pro Tools opens and is missing plugin licenses, it can open the cloud to check in auto (missing licenses like the SynthCell/GrooveCell licenses that haven't deposited yet)

Did you see this on your system? I just updated iLM to 5.5.2 this morning and it left my Cloud Session in Managed mode.

Yes. iLok 5.5.2 GM.
I had kept Cloud deactivated.

After the iLok update and I logged into iLok manager to move some iLok licenses to my usb key, I noticed the cloud was now activated/opened and in automatic mode (maybe the first time it opens it's always in automatic mode?).
So I went in and put it in managed mode.
Then closed iLok cloud session so it wouldn't open again.

Just reopened iLok manager (to check its version number) and the cloud session is staying closed.

This started happening to me a few weeks ago, just out of nowhere. I usually leave PT open overnight, done so for many years. The past two weeks, Pro Tools greets me in the morning with the message "Error, missing PACE authorization for "Pro Tools". Please re-insert your iLok or re-connect to your cloud session in the next 5 minutes or you must save and quit."

I save and quit, open iLok Manager, connect to cloud from there, and opens Pro Tools again. Pro Tools then ask me to go through the Pro Tools license activation procedure, including login to iLok. Then session opens, but all my other cloud authorizations are missing. Restart again, then everything is fine. Until the next morning.

The thing is, I've used iLok cloud for a long time without any issues at all. Pro Tools has always connected to the cloud without opening iLok Manager first. No asking for iLok login during startup.

I have not done any updates or changes to my system before this started to happen. Network is fine, no dropouts during the night. Pro Tools Ultimate 2021.12, iLok Manager 5.5.2 GM, Cloud managed mode, Mac Pro 5.1, OS High Sierra 10.13.6.

It`s a little frustrating going through this process on what is supposed to be the start of a creative day.

This happened to me and when it automatically quit itself for missing the authorization it didnt save the current session. Seems like this is something that should definitely be ironed out by now...

Yes. Since updating to 2022.4 I have had multiple "iLok missing" messages. Never had them before.

iLOK Licence Manager 5.5.2 GM

I have moved the iLOK to various USB slots to no avail.

Thanks all.. Been down with a cold and checking back. I've never used iLok Cloud to my knowledge. And had no idea about the 'managed/auto' modes.... I only use my hardware key. Followed the instructions on some of the posts here. THANKS for the assist!

Tried to move whatever was in the Cloud over to my hardware, and a few things didn't transfer. But, the new Synth and Groove Cells did... I'm on a 2019 MacPro 3.3 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon W, all the latest versions of all software (Ptools, iLok, Monterey, etc). Thanks!
