Default Digi001 Midi drivers - XP, CubaseSX3

Hi all,

I recently purchased a digi001 just to muck around with and have a play, and i've been using it fine recording audio in cubaseSX3. Now I would like to use the midi port to record some midi stuff but after hours of searching I still haven't found a way to do it. A lot of website have just said that the 001's midi capabilities is pretty useless and to just buy a USB-midi input device.

I don't get any midi input ports under the options of cubase, so I figure I need to install some drivers. Can anyone either clarify if this can be done, and if so... how to do it?

Much appreciated.

Cheers

Do you have Pro Tools installed, or are you just using the standalone ASIO drivers that are available for the 001?

To use the MIDI ports on the 001, you're going to need the MMERefresh service running, and I think that is only available when you have Pro Tools installed.

The service is located at C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Drivers\MMERefresh.exe and it should run as a service at startup. It can also be started manually. If that service is not present and you don't have Pro Tools installed, you will have to install Pro Tools.

Keep in mind that the Digidesign hardware was designed for use with Pro Tools. Capabilities for use with third party programs is added by Digidesign as a courtesy, and some compromises will have to be made.
