need more tracks
I have an artist who uses over 100 tracks per song. I doubled up most of her vocals on the same tracks but it makes it harder for mixing.
How can I get more tracks. I saw the PT package that comes with mp3, more plug ins and more tracks but it's only 48 tracks...how can i get more than that?

Re: need more tracks
48 stereo tracks if I'm not mistaken. Clever use of multi-mono plugins can actually give you 96 mono tracks. I believe the user Spkguitar explained this here on this forum once?

Re: need more tracks
The tool kits will give you 48 stereo tracks or 96 voices. You can also Follow spkguitars Tutorial. You could rewire REAPER in instead of Live.

The only time I've ever dealt with an "artist" who needed more than 30 tracks was this one guy who thought each take for each verse and chorus should have its own track. He never wanted to erase or delete or undo or comp together ANYTHING. In his mind, it was all pure genius that needed sorting out. But really, it was a recorded cluster*&^* of bad takes. Sorry, I don't mean to be mean, but I got the feeling you needed a friendly kick in the pants.

Re: need more tracks
I don't work with loops I work with vocals. The singer I work with uses alot of harmonies over her verses and chorus...She uses up to twenty harmonies for saying one word. Each harmony has a different sound to it to avoid adding too much plugins. She likes her voice to be the plug ins all natural with her harmonies. Sorry that we are doing real music with a real vocalist instead of digitizing her voice.

Re: need more tracks
HD-2 or even HD-3 is the only option for more than 48 tracks of audio.
I know a couple vocalists that use up tracks in the range your talking about, but since they were on 001 LE systems they developed a technique in session management to comp stuff down into a series of sub mixes or stems. time consuming process would doing it on LE, 20 tracks at a time being comped down.. the old ping pong bouncing down to free up a track method from the days before 24 track analog... Here is something I found recently - http://www.charlesdye.com/ptguidelines2.0.pdf I'd rent a rig if the budget allows. |

Re: need more tracks
Yes, bounce or record to disk. Like now, you (the OP) have two identical threads going, and all you need is one.
From the DUC terms of use: Quote:

Re: need more tracks
maybe you should just use logic or reaper or something if you dont want to go HD. especially if it is only one project...one project does not justify the purchase of an hd system. for what its worth though, an HD 1 system would give you 96 voices..

Re: need more tracks
You want to harmonize the saying of a word 20 times?
