My sync I/O has only a yellow light around the power button when it is turned on, no other signs of life. I can not update the firmware from withtin Pro Tools. When I click that button on the peripherals page nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?

Reupdate the firmware. I know you said you can't do this, but I do believe you can. Forget that the SYNC I/O will not boot up. Just go through the firmware update procedure as if life is peachy, and it should find it and attempt to update it. Whether or not it actually solves your problem is another matter. I had this happen on 1/3 (yes, 33%!) of our systems when updating to v6.4.1. Fortunately, a 2nd firmware upload did the trick.
