Default Firewire setup

I am about to purchase a fire wire interface. Also my external hd is a glyph fire wire. Now I am not sure, how to set up those two devices. I could link them through the glyph, but I have done that before with another interface and I had issues. Do I need to get a fire wire splitter ?

thanks for any suggestions

Kai

Using a ProjectMix I/O interface, I'm chaining just the way you described. The Glyph is connected to my iMac, a Lacie connected to the Glyph and the projectMix I/O connected to the Lacie.

Been running that way on several iMacs for years, with no problems.

Which interface did you have that didn't work chained through the Glyph?

In that case it was a M-Audio profire Lightbridge, which I use for some live-recording.
