PT9 and the Mackie Onyx 1640i
My current set-up is PT LE 8.0cs3 MBox 2 Mini. However, I have new PC, Win-7 and want to upgrade on that to PT9. I also want to do better than the MBox 2 mini for the interface. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the Mackie Onyx 1640i can serve as the interface to replace the MBox?
I believe it can, but I want to be sure. Thanks Donald M

Re: PT9 and the Mackie Onyx 1640i
I wish I had the answer for sure but from what I understand is that the mackie will come up as a m-audio 2626 firewire which again from what I've heard works well. I hope someone chimes in that has one and will share their experience.

PT9 does in general have some issues with ASIO drivers. It can be difficult to switch buffer sizes. You have to adjust it at the driver (outside of PT9), then adjust it in PT9, and it may take a few PT9 restarts. But then it works beautifully! Note my system specs in my signature. I have a pretty weak system, and it still works great! Just make sure wireless and bluetooth are disabled and you should be fine.

Re: PT9 and the Mackie Onyx 1640i
Actually in PT9 it comes up as Loud ASIO. It's probably the PT8 M-Powered version where is comes up as the M-Audio 2626 Firewire. Anyway, I'm really happy with mine in PT9.

Re: PT9 and the Mackie Onyx 1640i
Hey there!!
The Mackie Onyx 1640i is great, BUT many people have troubles with PT9, getting it work proberly!! Check this out: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=293860 I solved my troubles with a straight start-up procedure, as described in the above thread, and i hope that they (mackie and avid) will bring out new drivers soon, to get rid of this interface-droppings and stuff!! @DJBechara: Look at the mackie-Homepage, there´s all the info you´d need....you can make plenty of monitor-mixes, cause you have 6 seperate aux-channels, one headphone out and one control-room out, 4 subgroup-outs, 1 mono out...... |
