Default "Pro Tools is critically low on memory"

Just updated to 10.3.8. I keep getting this error alot. "Pro Tools is critically low on memory. Please save your session and re-launch Pro Tools."

I was on 10.3.7 for a long time and never once encountered this.

I have 16 gigs of memory on this machine. Its never a problem.

Anyone else? Quite annoying!

Had the same problem here.

Reinstalled the HD_Driver_11_1_0 and it seems to work much better.

I mainly noticed it while it was scanning the plugins for the first time after the install. Had to reboot a couple times to get thru them all. Hasn't bothered since.

PT10.3.8 (actually any version of PT10) is a 32 bit program and any memory after 4 gig isn't seen by the program even though Mountain Lion is a 64 bit os. If you want to use all your ram upgrade to PT11.

I understand that but that's not the issue. This started after installing 10.3.8.
And I have 11. No massey= no 11 for me.

As always the first thing to suspect is your plugins. Upgrading Pro Tools versions may have managed to trigger a dormant problem or you may have been operating just on the edge before. The first thing I would do is to go through restarting Pro Tools with all third party plugins removed and see if this problem still exists. Then add back plugins until you see if you can find one that has or is causing a memory leak.

I get the same errors. It's really annoying. I hate hate hate that Avid basically abandoned us PT 10HD TDM owners like "thanks for investing $10,000" on a system, we're gunna leave a massive bug (conspiracy theorists might think purposefully added) forcing your to upgrade another $5000 or so just to get back in the game. We appreciate your business. Oh yea, we just reduced the price on the LE version to $199."

Default "Pro Tools is critically low on memory"

Well you only have 32 bits of address space to work with in with Pro Tools 10. What do you want Avid to do exactly? Remove that limit, move to 64 bits? That is Pro Tools 11/12. So try to check for plugins memory leaks and if that is not it you need to find a workflow that used less memory... print VIs etc. Avid had done everything they can, including shipping 64 bit software, but you need to actually install and use it.

I used to get this fairly frequently with PTHD 10.3.8 & 9. But now that I'm thinking about it, I can only recall getting it once since I updated to 10.3.10. But since I'm constantly updating plugins as well, have no idea if it's due to the PT update or a 'fixed' plugin.
