Does 11R come with a full Pro Tools version

Looks Like I have quite a quandry here. Just got my 11R from Sam Ash, after specifying that I want the one with the upgrade to PT 10 free. They said no problem. Mine came shipped with PT 8 which will not give me the free upgrade to 10 correct. And furthermore it states nowhere on the box or the materials that it comes with the expansion pack. Was this one that has been sitting around for a year? Not happy.

According to Avid if you buy a bundle with PT LE then you are not eligible for the free upgrade to PT10, and i have not seen anything that says you will get the ERXP for free if its not already pre-installed.

Send it back. And order from Sweetwater.

How much were they selling it for? Its $899 at Sweetwater and specifies that the ERXP and PT10 are included.

Thats the funny part. As a super duper plutonium customer, I got a 20% off anything in the store. Well I was all over that and made sure the salesperson made sure it came with the expansion pack and PT 9 with free upgrade to 10. So - I paid $719.00. UNBELIEVABLE!! Would have cost me $499 to get to 10 from my 8 as is I think. No brainer b/c I wanted Eleven anyway.

Guess my last question is: will the version I just got from Sam Ash of 11R that came with the PT8 work with my PT8.01 that is already loaded on my IMac Leopard 10.5.8.

Everything is so stable now - maybe I should think about just leaving as is.

yes.

However, i really recommend sending it back. To upgrade to PT10 from PT LE 8 it is $500 plus the Expansion Pack costs $100.

Or maybe you can call Sam Ash and tell them the sales person assured you that it would come with PT10 and the ERXP, maybe they can just send you the activation codes.

PT 9-10 are not compatible with Leopard. As far as I know.

It still annoys the crap out of me that after picking up my 11R 6 months ago and paying for the expansion pack, that they are now including both the expansion pack and a free upgrade to 10 for free. Yes I knew what I was buying at the time - but paying $600 for what is now included is beyond ridiculous. It's short sighted moves like this that will have me looking long and hard at the competition when it's time for my next purchase...

I agree with Benoni that you should have Sam Ash make this right for you and give you the one they promised.

But regardless of which one you get, you can definitely just hook it up to your existing Imac with PT8 installed. No need to install anything new.

If you do end up getting the one with PT10, you can still use that for the time being with your PT8.

If you want to install PT10, you will need to be on Snow Leopard or Lion.
