Default 22.12 download is now Intel only?

I bought a subscription to test the M1 native beta.
The currently downloadable mac installer installs "Pro Tools (Intel)". No option to not run in rosetta.
Have they taken it away? Seems so, the installer size under 2GB.
Where's the ARM beta? I can't find it anywhere.

What are you looking at *exactly* that is telling you all this?

Have you run the installer and looked at the actual executable installed? Run finder file info (aka Command I) on /Applications/Pro Tools.app after running the installer. Double check you ran the installer you just downloaded.

The download file name in Avid.com "My Products" has not changed, it's still listed as "Pro Tools 2022.12 Mac (DMG) 3.38 GB". The actual file downloads as "Pro_Tools_2022.12_Mac.dmg" and it has not changed, and actual installer file size is 3.62GB according to Finder File Info or 3457 MiB according to du -m. Avid's claimed installer file sizes are useless, which is not unusual, and they don't specify anywhere I know how exactly the size is measured.

The installer installs a Pro Tools.app universal binary. (some other components within the installer are Apple silicon only, or Intel only (like the old ReWire components, or the Avid Link crapware) but that's ok/expected/working as designed/documented. Doublecheck you are looking at the correct installed version and if you have multiple versions of Pro Tools installed and renamed that you are not looking at the wrong one.

If you are looking at something in Avid Link... well you should know better.

edit: I'm also not sure where any installer size "under 2GB" comes from, AFAIK no recent Intel only Pro Tools installer was that small, 2022.10 was 2.76 GB (finder)/2641 MiB (du -m). Are you sure you are looking at the correct download? And the download finished successfully?

Ben
Not sure if this is what you are talking about BUT::

On my products page only the selected Mac or Win version shows as a download link.... Make sure you have "Mac" selected/highlighted on your account products PT (version) page
On my page the selected Mac or Win download link shows and is in blue

Here Mac is highlighted and only shows Mac DMG (and is 3.38 GB = for Ultimate)

Here Win is selected and only shows Win Zip (and is 2.64 GB = for Ultimate )

Hey Ben - I see 2 products in your Pro Tools Studio section. The top one is a monthly sub and it has Pro Tools 2022.12 Mac (DMG) 3.38 GB. The second is your perpetual license and has Pro Tools 2020.12 Installer Mac (DMG) 1.88 GB. Perhaps you are just looking at the second one?

When You launch PT 2022.12 this is what you see..

Darrel, ok I did as you say , I clicked on the PT App icon in Applications hit command (I) And this is what it shows in default
According to the release notes ( ha read the manual) you have to uncheck that "Open Using Rosetta" box to be in Silicon native

Thanks, everybody.

No, I was only looking at the download center, not wanting to install Link just for this, and the only download I found there was around 2GB and it installed Pro Tools. In get info, it says Pro Tools (Intel) and has no option to run under rosetta or not.

I'm now downloading the installer under the subscription license in my products, it's twice the size and I'm sure that is because it's the universal binary.

Thanks.

Just to confirm; the download under the subscription license was indeed the universal binary, and I'm now successfully running PT22.12beta natively on apple silicon.

Glad you got things sorted out. Was concerned so I checked my.avid.com > Avid Download Center > Avid Pro Tools > 2022.12 and the mac installer says Download File Size: 3624296240. Downloaded that and Get Info shows it's 3.64 GB.
