Default PCIe Host Card For Digi Expansion HD

Hi,

Does anyone know if a PCIe host card is available for the Digi Expansion HD? I'm switching to a new Mac Pro (from a Dual 2.5 G5) and want to keep my cards PCIx. If anyone can chime in that they have a system like this working it would be great to hear. I know the Magma works better, but I'm really not wanting to buy another expansion chassis if it isn't necessary (the first one hurt enough).

Best,

JSR

I'm running this chassis on pt8 with an Harpertown 2.8 8-core.

Currently there's some compatibly problems! lost of connection to the chassis? but cs3 is apparently bringing the fix.

Only time i get loss of connection is when using the AIR plugs! otherwise its working fine.

Thanks again Chris; I'm going to order my new Mac Pro now; hopefully the compatibly problems stay with just that one. Did you hear any word as to when we might expect a cs3?

FWIW, you can also order just the circuit boards (MOBO and Host card) for the Magma PCIe to PCI chassis. Essentially, all of these boxes are just an ATX server case with a PS and a couple of fans.

Chris, are you running this card stock from Intel, or was it purchased from Digi? I thought that Digidesign had to do some modifications. The Digi part doesn't show up as a NIC, but the Intel stock part would...

Hi,

Mine is the Dig boxed version! the internal packaging is Intel with the part number on it, plus the card has Intel and the part number on it etc, i assumed it is the same? so Digi modify these cards somehow??

This would explain why JSR can't get the chassis to be seen.

Do Digi still provide these cards?
The major selling point of this chassis is; and i quote "Future proof" so hopefully they will supply these cards.

A while back, as a test, I purchased an couple of intel PCI-X NIC cards (to go in a G5) with exactly the same part number as on the digi supplied card. It didn't work with the chassis, so I can only assume that digi do some kind of mod before they send them out.

Hope that helps!

ps Anyone want to buy a couple of Gb NICs? :)
