It doesn't crash logic, but it also doesn't seem to recall layouts like in PT. Maybe there's a preference somewhere that I need to check?

As mentioned many times by many people, your issues have nothing to do with MA.

What Darryl has suggested holds true. In some cases (not all), MA can cause issues, often too deep to notice immediately. People come around the forum complaining about sluggish this and error that, never knowing what's causing it. It 100% *could* be deep-rooted corruption not obvious to the naked eye, in some forgotten area of a folder you're not even aware of.

It happens, and it's frustrating. One way to avoid these ambiguous errors/crashes/lethargies is to keep a clean system. MA, I'm sorry to say, is not recommended if a clean system is important to you.
God help us, he's back and shilling the same garbage.

Have you created Eucon layouts for your projects?

So what's the convenience? Best mac for pro tools to date? Mac pro 16 core Intel or Mac studio ultra?

16-core MacPro has a multi-core Geekbench score of 14,600.
Studio Ultra has a multi-core score of 23,300.

16-core MacPro has a single-core score of 1,118.
Studio Ultra has a single-core score of 1,755.

From the standpoint of horsepower it's not even close: Studio Ultra.

Rosetta slows down the Studio, to varying degrees depending upon configuration and the hardware/software being used, but having watched the topic closely it still feels like the easy winner.

This isn't a question of Power. It's about Money. I would argue this whole thread is about money.

The 2019 Mac Pro is a rip off (now)
Single core M1 is faster than any Mac built thus far.
Ultra is overkill for 85% of Audio users
Max is a bargain when you consider the above and what Eric said.

I've been using a Studio Ultra for almost a week now. But I'll play devil's advocate for a second: the bugs are ironed-out on Intel. All your plug-ins work, the Mac Pro 7,1 has no thermal throttling, the components can be upgraded, it's built like a tank.

But for me, portability was a big factor. And then cost really surprised me. My maxed-out Ultra is not expensive for what it says it can do on paper. I've lost some plug-ins, Eucon is a little buggy on Apple Silicon, and it's not clear yet how much better native Pro Tools will be. Lots of questions ahead.

True. But it costs as much as a small car and will be obsolete soon.

Pro Tools is always buggy to some degree.

Lots of questions but lots of money on the line for all the big execs so money is on getting things sorted.

How is EuCon buggy? What is it doing (or not doing)?

It's not about money for me, it's almost exclusively about processing power. I wouldn't mind paying for a MacPro but much of that computer is geared toward video, which means nothing to me. It's more about spending money smartly.
