I have a minimum of 30 installations from small to very large systems based on Apple Computers and Avid / Pro Tools in Germany in a city where 90% of TV production and a whole lot of other manufacturers (music, advertising, movies, etc.)

For this I have my own private system from Pro Tools.
There are actually 3 different Pro Tools sets due to Apple computers.
Only one is the reliable Pro Tools 4.1.1 TDM + Power Macintosh 9600

In the + - 20 years, I only used the help of Digidesign / Avid twice.
It's quite possible that I know more about the various versions of Pro Tools than Avid itself, because many people don't work there anymore, and they created this Pro Tools myth. Now new employees are just cutting coupons from this myth. This means that they take money from us for something that does not work properly and will not work.

I too have never had any of the problems Digiface is talking about and I don't have a firebreather of a system - check out my profile - there's a link to it in my sig file. Regularly running 60+ track sessions at 256 buffer in 2020.11 and zero issues. I guess some people complain just because they have to have something to complain about. Those types are never satisfied.

Having trouble making sense of what you write. I checked and AvidAppManHelper is NOT running.
What do you mean by 'privileges at Avid?
I've done many changes to my system and no problems but then again I know what I'm doing and take care to have backups in case things go wrong.

My current subscription ends at the end of the month and I just reinstated an older PT 11 perpetual license to a current plan for the year. I'll have to evaluate the state of things when it's time to renew in a year. I'm thinking of mixing in Cubase since I use it for production, but for mixing I prefer the PT workflow and tight integration with my Dock and S1 setup.

Hey just my thought,I use Nuendo with a Dock & S1 and it works great, so if that is putting you in the fence about Cubase, you’ll be happy with it and EuCon integration
Plus the”Control” room is very cool with a Dock... but I use Pro Tools as well so I’m a Happy camper

For my part, after enjoying Cubase, I'm with Studio One. I hesitated out of prejudice. Studio One is absolutely extraordinary. ARA2 much better than Cubase, clip gain like PT, integration of consoles 1 and fader of Softube, plus 1000 things that belong to it and that are nice surprises. Subscribe to Sphere for cheap. Famous.

Soo ... whats famous? Sphere?? A pretty middle of the pack mic that depening on a computer to work like Slate VMS which both ”trying” to sound like original mics which they sure as heck dont! We tried and used our original mics and none of them come close. So you can subscribe to anything but pretty worthless when you stop paying as you dont have anything to show for other than a lot of wasted cash. Buy a real mic and own it and touch it and USE it.

Quality is created or lost in the beginning of the chain and only finalized in mastering. Not talking about composing or artist here, but the technical chain starts from mic, continues with preamp and AD conversion. That is where you make it or break it. There is a reason why some mics and preamps cost a heart and kidney
