Default Compress MIDI velocity

Hey forum,

I need to pick your brains, maybe you can help.
I want to compress midi velocity on a track. Is there a way to do this either as a track plugin or with an input transformer, so that I do not need to „process“ parts after recording?

As in you want the velocity restricted to a certain range so that the level is constant?

If so, you can do that with MIDI Realtime Properties.

If you do the operation on a duplicate playlist, your original velocities will be preserved for future use or reference. I compress velocities by scaling them to less then 100%, then adding the amount that brings the loudest ones back to where they were.

But MIDI Realtime Properties are non destructive.

Which is handy when you want it done to the whole track. I often perform the manual operation on phrases or sections.
