does the shadow know? does anyone do this? should it be done? I like the track ball, 2 joysticks, colored keyboard vibe, also all those other dedicatable buttons. Is there any redundancy between the two units which could confuse the weary. I've been searching here for an answer and haven't asked anyone official yet. waddayas think?

Another Expansion question that no one answered.
As I stated in another post, Digi said (or at least used to say) in some of their info. somewhere that the C24 cannot be expanded. If you -- or anyone out there -- however, hear of a way to use the Pro Control Edit Pack with the Control | 24, PLEASE let the world know! Thank you! HalleluYah! Praise Yah!

This is funny, because there were some other posts here that have disappeared, maybe this one will too. I read from the pubs that the edit pack needed only the current version of protools to run. Someone then informed me that the edit pack will only run with the procontrol main unit, as I remember it was someone from NH, even in New Derry?. That particular post I've surmised, no longer exists and this thread has been ressurected even after I've changed my handle.
Well, does it work or not? I'm not going to buy one to find out, or even rent one to be adventurous. If it does, the controls and the keyboard are cherry and the surround controls and extra monitoring rules. See the original post for the original questions.

It doesn't seem like this forum gets much attention from DIGI-D.
New product idea, affordable 16 fader control surface with capabilities superior to the Control24 with a dedicated keyboard, trackball, surround panners, all the neat updates and innovations that have already been with the ability to expand at 16 channels at a time. make it cheaper than procontrol. If I take the preamp and submixer sections off of a control24, I could add a whole bunch of useful stuff. That's just dreaming because it would be better to start from the beginning, don't get me wrong, I like my control 24. I just wish I had something better that wasn't a procontrol, which I don't like at all. If the Edit pack would work with the Control24, which seems likely, this would be a great start, it has all that the 24 misses.

For those experimenting, please let us know how it went!
PRODUCT IDEAS?? How about the ability to use a STANDARD MIXER (even as humble as a Mackie 32*8 bus or a CR1604-VLZ Pro, etc.) as a Controller for Pro Tools, while at the same time being able to use it as a mixer? I think that would be a bit difficult, but there could be a device that "reads" what's going on at the output (direct out??) of each channel. Separate idea: Maybe it could even use some sort of goofy audio signals on channels that are not being used for audio at the moment, signals that would even tell whether something were EQed or not. I often like goofy ideas like these, even if sometimes they're impractical! BETTER IDEA? How about making a mixer -- a little more expensive than the Mackie 32*8 bus (add $1,000?) -- that is DESIGNED as a controller. V-Pot-types of pots could be used instead of regular pots. The board doesn't HAVE to be digital for these things to work, just have digital "controls". Smoothly-moving faders would be nice too. A little extra digital circuitry added alongside the analog, and something "new", cool, and award-winning could be in the mix. It's about time for engineers to design (more) non-linear and digital effects and controls around ANALOG devices. Completely off the topic: If feasible, why not allow ANALOG to be recorded to a hard drive (after all, it is magnetic!!), but allow it to be "edited" in a non-linear way, similar to digital audio. The best of both worlds! (This idea could require or be-assisted-by a special hard drive that could write such information, but so what?? It can't be that hard or expensive!) COOL STUFF, huh?!
