MEZZO HELP

Has anyone used Mezzo back up system (ie. VXA,EXABYTE TAPE) but backed up on to a hard drive using Mezzo to catalouge sessions and not a tape.We are attempting to but Mezzo is not fuctioning the same as when backing up to tapes ie not automatically updating changed sessions. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks..

We gave up Mezzo a year ago and started backing up our project on external Firewire drives. Finally, we have a 99,99% reliable backup system that makes it possible to load an old PT Session and work with it within a couple of minutes. With Mezzo, it was always a question of trusting higher spirits... By the way, isn't harddrives cheaper than tape?

What version are you using? Mezzo 4.5.x enables mirroring to hard drives. Works fine here....

Yes, make sure you are using V4.5 or higher. I have been able to get Mezzo to see and back up to both HD and removeable drives (Like Jazz, or Orb)
However- Mezzo does seem to be choosy about what it will back up. Media doesn't matter. It is just as likely to forget to backup to tape as it is a HD. After your session is complete, you should double check the file tree to make sure that each new file has indeed been archived.I usually put on a pot of coffee first.
On the other hand, their tech support seems to believe that this is only a problem with a few select people and that thousands of others do not have these problems. Your mileage may vary.
