I already had Pro Tools 8 working on this computer, but recently I had to reinstall it because I switched back to Windows XP Home Edition. I have Service Pack 3 for Windows XP Home Edition and the required 2GB to run Pro Tools 8.
Anyway, I pop the disk inside my DVD-ROM and the dialog box shows up... I click the link "Install Pro Tools M-Powered" and my computer does some humming for a couple of seconds and then stops. I get this dialog box that says something about Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. It's saying I have a runtime error (whatever the [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] that means) and all these [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]ing numbers come up on my screen. Abnormal program termination... I'm about to "abnormally terminate" this [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]ing CD if I can't find out why I meet all the criteria and Digidesign still fails to make a program what will run on the computer (properly). Anybody else having this problem!?! |

Can you run it in Safe Mode? Are you logged in to the Administrator account?
