HELP, Cannot Record to Pro Tools 10

OK, I got that off of my chest.

First of all, here is what IS working. Through my Lexicon Omega to Pro Tools 10: (1) I can here wav track playback through headphones into Omega or speakers, whichever I choose on my PC. No latency, no noise. Perfect playback. (2) I can hear my microphone in headphones or through speakers, perfectly.

Here is what is NOT working: recording with the mic.

I am convinced I have something screwed up in either Setup|Hardware with ASIO4All or Setup/I/O. I have gone around in circles for two weeks now and have not ever been able to get a microphone signal to a vocal track.

Hopefully the forum audience can, at a minimum, give me suggestions to try.

Are you using a Mic that needs phantom power, if so do you have it switched on...if not do you have it switched off?

No, it is an SM57 that I am using to test to see if I can get any mic to work. When I get it, I'll be using a Sterling that needs phantom power. But right now, no need.

PS. I discovered the problem when using the Sterling in the first place. No mic in my arsenal seems to work.
