For VENUE D-Show®, VENUE Profile and VENUE Mix Rack Systems

D-Show 2.8.2 addresses two issues discovered after the release of D-Show 2.8.1. Affected VENUE systems running D-Show software version 2.8.1 can be updated using the D-Show 2.8.2 update.

Please Note: VENUE systems running version 2.7 or earlier must first be upgraded to D-Show 2.8.1 before applying the D-Show 2.8.2 update.


Who Should Use D-Show Console Software Version 2.8.2?

This update is recommended for all users of:

A VENUE system comprising an early revision FOH Rack. Instructions on how to determine if your FOH Rack is affected are included below.
- or -
A VENUE system comprising a D-Show Main and one or more Sidecar console components connected to an FOH Rack (any revision) or Mix Rack.


The update is qualified for use with all VENUE D-Show, VENUE Profile and VENUE Mix Rack systems and can be installed as desired, even if the system does not meet one of the above criteria.

VENUE SC48 is not affected by these issues and remains current at D-Show version 2.8.1.


What's Fixed in D-Show 2.8.2?

Fixed: Dynamics metering for VENUE D-Show Sidecars does not work (Item #VSW-5235)

The channel strip meters for the built-in compressor and gate do not work on a Sidecar connected to a Main unit. This means that if you have a comp or gate enabled on a Sidecar channel you will only be able to meter their status and gain reduction effect on screen, instead of on the console. VENUE D-Show users connecting to an FOH Rack (of any revision) or Mix Rack should apply the D-Show 2.8.2 update. This issue does not affect VENUE Profile users.

Fixed: Hardware Monitoring is not working on early revision FOH Racks (Item #VSW-5269)

The hardware monitoring feature on early revision FOH Racks is not working. Attempting to launch the hardware monitor on an FOH Rack running D-Show 2.8.1 software gives a dialog saying "No hardware monitoring information is available because the hardware monitoring device could not be accessed. If the problem persists, your system may need to be serviced."

How can I tell if I have an an early revision FOH Rack?
There are four ways to determine if you have an affected FOH Rack. Choose the method that is most convenient:

1. With any version of D-Show software installed, navigate to the Options > Systems page and left-click on the software version number located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. You will then see a tooltip located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. If your system reports “XPe Build #10-i” then you have an early revision FOH Rack and should apply the D-Show 2.8.2 update.

2. With D-Show 2.8.1 installed, launch the hardware monitor by holding CTRL and SHIFT on the keyboard, while typing the letter M (CTRL+SHIFT+M). If the aforementioned error dialog appears then you have an early revision FOH Rack and should apply the D-Show 2.8.2 update.

3. Check the FOH Rack model number, located on the side of the unit. If the middle five digits are 12598 then you have an early revision FOH Rack and should apply the D-Show 2.8.2 update.

4. Check the FOH Rack serial number, located on the side of the unit. Any FOH with a serial numbers earlier than XF00597 should apply the D-Show 2.8.2 update.

A: Once the update file is downloaded, the installation process should take less than 15 minutes.

A: No, all plug-ins and user data are preserved during the update. ECx software, if present, is also preserved.

Q: Are my existing Show files compatible with this update?
A: Yes, all Show files created using previous versions of D-Show software are compatible with this update.

Q: Are Show files created with D-Show 2.8.2 compatible with previous versions of D-Show?
A: Show files created using D-Show version 2.8.2 are compatible with any version of D-Show 2.8 software. These files are backwards compatible with D-Show 2.0 or higher software, except for features not present in earlier releases. D-Show 2.x show files are not compatible with D-Show version 1.x software.
