Default Re: Audio Technica 4033 mic rocks!

Oh yeah, I just got one new for $250. Very nice mic. Apples In Stereo also use it...very cool recordings.
It has been able to handle everything I can throw at it.
I also use AKG C3000's which are nice, but the 4033 is definitely an improvement.
I have used it on an amp. Works great...but the 57 is still the ever reliable amp mic.
I'm using the pre's in my Mackie board and the mic sounds great. So I can only imagine what it would sound like with higher end pre's.
Thanks for bringing this up H-man, this message needs to make it to the people.

Default Audio Technica 4033 mic rocks!

I just got an Audio Technica 4033 and I must say this mic, kicks ass! I ran it through my little ART tube MP and couldn't beleive what a sweet tone I got on my vocals. No more of that, "my voice sounds like it's in a tunnel sound" very clean and accurate representation. For $300, everyone should pick one or two or four up! Anyone out there using this close m micing a guitar amp? I think I will try it in conjunction with my sm-57. Well, I thought it was my duty to make all aware of this kick butt mic. You will not be embarassed by this one either. It is the real deal. I just read too that Alan Parsons, he did Floyd's, Dark Side of the moon, is using this mic quite a bit, so it has to be good. There are gems out there, just seek them out. I want more mics!!!!!!

Thanks H-man! I was contemplating checking the AT mic out and I think I will now as I need a good quality 2nd vocal mic.

Check out the Rode NT3 if ya can..I bought 2 for use as O/H's and for the price..(about Aus 350) they are fantastic. Also good for close miking acoustic instruments. On vocals they are a bit sibilant but that can be fixed with a little Eq'ing. ...

Cheers

We have a pair of the 4033A's, and they are by far the most used mics in the collection, which includes AKG C-4000's and 414's. Check out the AT 4041 small diaphram. Incredible gain, and the same transparant imaging as the 4033A. Great for snare drum!!!
