Re: mac pro vs pc
tried both, mac is more stable, less crashes, freezes and drivers problems.
(my experiences on XP not W7)

Re: mac pro vs pc
The computer is the engine for your operating system. The OS in the user experience is vastly is under rated. It's the virtual world where you spend 90% of your studio time for many. Do you want to spend your life driving a Mercedes all day or a Ford F-150?

Re: mac pro vs pc
There can be other factors - such as if you want video from firewire, then pc is a no go unless you buy an avid mojo
Machine control from a pc is harder Viruses - you may need to disable your pc from the internet and security is a threat Backup - my pc experience is jaded from a horrible time with Norton Ghost My mac is a first gen macpro intel and is bombproof and can be backed up with Superduper (20$) For those reasons alone I prefer the mac premium price BUt to mix with Pro Tools? I don't think it makes much of a difference I have niggles with either OS (mine is XP based) If you want more power (TDM) then PC is the way to go as you can buy PCs with PCIe and PCIx slots - and go and buy yourself cheap PCIx cards. Just my nuggets of wisdom
