studio projects c1 with octopre?

i have 2 C1's right now going through my 1202 into the digi001 and it sounds decent but not great. i know that as soon as possible i want an octopre to give me a big boost in sound quality, and basically what i want to know is, are the C1's really up to that level? would i notice that much of a difference. basically, since i haven't had much exposure to other setups and am inclined to skepticism, do the microphones really hold up in a professional environment as well as they are hyped and would they be the weakest link in recording wtih an octopre?

I have owned a C1 for over a year now and while it is a great mic for many applications, I tend to think that in comparison to a more refined mic aka, neumann or manley, it simply is what it is.....a great mic under $300. With solid tweaking at the channel level, the C1 can sound pretty incredible but at the base level it is what it is. See if your local pro audio store will let you demo a AKG 414II, a neumann tlm 103, and compare it to your C1. While those mics are still not u87's, you can begin to see how these mics behave in comparison to one another and you might even rebuild enthusiasm for your C1.
