Re: Crackling when moving windows??
OK.
so i it turns out that i only get really bad performance whenever i have ANY rtas wrapped plugin. (tried from different manufacturers - its ALL wrapped plugins) - i filled all my insert slots (a-g or whatever is the max) with dverbs and the computer could handle it without a single hiccups (was almost dying though, but its ok) - the cpu meter showed 85% and i could move stuff around fine with no problems. ANd i found the "minimize io latency" checkbox you were talking about - i just had to press "ignore CPU errors" (or whatever its called) - i cant really compare if it helps or not, since PT stops playing any sound as soon as i do that. THe meters dance around and i am playing back stuff, but there is no audio. So... what are my options?? i really want to use other plugins than the stock ones! just tested again - if i have the minimize in/out latncy checked, the computer performs really bad, stock plugins or not, but unchecked, the computer (with stock plugins) performs great! and by bad i mean: unable to playback 24 mono tracks, with 2 inserts each (takes up roughly 32% of the cpu, but teh cpu meter dancing so much up and down that its hard to tell.. and it goes completely in the red if i scroll up/down or adjust an eq. I have left 2 cores for the OS, and it seems that if i go down to 4 cores only, the performance gets a little better, but still WAY unacceptable. this is on an I7 2600 3,4 ghz, with no IRQ conflicts, no overclocking, fresh install of win7 and pro tools. |

Hmm.[bleep]
I reinstalled pt - this time 9.02 and checked the "minimize i/o latency" and it help alot! My system is usable now!! I still get some light crackles when i move Windows around/change eq points etc but not nearly as often as before.[bleep] Wuhuuu!! Still not perfect, but alot better! |

...
But if i go anywhere near 30-50% cpu usage the system is unusable.... Seems that any rtas Will mess everything up.. |
