David,

The list of "working" plugs is mighty long.

If you are having issues, it's best to eliminate non-factory plugs, then add your 3rd party plugs slowly, test, then proceed.

Or post a "does this plug work?" here. But a general, "what works" question is unlikely to yield a quality answer that you can work with.

The best thing that I've done recently is buy a Focusrite ISA428 so that I can re-record tracks. Playing them out, maybe through a choice compressor or EQ (1176 is rocking), then back in makes the world of difference. So much easier to then mix in the box. With so many artists using the built-in pres of Mbox,002/3 etc it doesn't have that magic X. My feeling on the matter is passing audio through transformer-based pres adds it. Try it. Loving what the ISA and 1176 are doing to this last lot That said, you can't go wrong with Wave's Studio Collection and TC DVR2.

8-)

Hi,

depends a lot on what type of plugins you want!!!

For mainstay processing stuff comps and EQ's then All Waves are top, especially the CLA/SSL
More specialist stuff then Brainworx / DUY /Sountoys are amongst my favorites.

Eventide / EMI / Massey / URS / McDsp are all top dollar plugs.

Chris

David, I run a PTHD3 Accel (PCIX) with a Magma chassis on an 8-core MacPro running 10.5.8, Control24, and a 192I/O with the A/D expansion. I have the Waves Mercury TDM, Eventide Anthology II, everything that is made or distributed by Digidesign, Sonox, Antares, McDSP, and many others. I have NO issues--- so instead of asking others what is working, why not tell us about YOUR situation and what is not working.

I think the OP is asking what plug-ins are putting a smile on your face rather than a compatibility question.

Here are a few that make their way into a lot of my mixes:

Waves CLA compressors (love these)
Waves SSL (both the channel strip and bus comp)
SoundToys EchoBoy (just upgraded to v4 and Decapitator & PanMan seem really nice)
Altiverb
Brainworx bx_digital v2
Sonnox Oxford EQ
Massey De-esser
VocAlign

Shout out to Waves Tune, which I find myself going to more than Autotune lately.

Melodyne plug (not the editor) (can't use AT or anything else, really).
MDW EQ - clean and good solo feature.
SSL Channel - versatile
McDSP analog channel, Filterbank
Massey Tape Head and D-S
Waves H-Delay (usually Echo Farm)
[compressors for me are often outboard]
H-Comp is good in a pinch, as is the BF-2A and the SSL bus comp.
I also like TL Space, Revibe (at times), and the Air Spring verb (sometimes). I still end up gravitating to the PCM70 and 480 L a LOT, though, for verb.
