Default How to record vocal while playing back MIDI?

Hi, this is my first time here. I'm new to Protools and here's the question:

I have a 002 Rack hooked up (both MIDI and In/Out) to my MotifES keyboard. I can control my keyboard and assigned patches to different channels with no problem. I noticed that in order to hear MIDI playing back sounds using Protools controlling my keyboard, I have to have an audio track opened and having the input listen (input line 3/4). This means that I have to hit the record button on that audio track in edit window. Well, if I were to have another input say (input mic 1) and wanting to record vocal without recording sounds coming from MIDI but still can listen to MIDI playback, how would I go about making this happen? Because this means that I will have to activate both "record" button on the edit window, but I don't want to record anything from my MIDI playback. I just want to hear my MIDI playback and ONLY record my vocal via input mic 1.

Please help. Thank you!

Jeffrey

Assign the AUX Input to 3/4, do not record arm the MIDI track and assign the Input of an Audio track to Mic 1 and record arm this track.
