Digi 002 won't conect to PT

I'm using a digi 002 with PT7.1 on a g4 imac with OSX Tiger. Since upgrading to 7.1 a few months ago I have had no issues until yesterday. Half way through editing a vocal track my 002 lost contact with PT. I turned everything off and then on again and trashed the prefs to no avail. The 002 only reboots very occasionally. If it does connect it loses connection within a minute. Most times it either hangs while "validating", hangs while "loading" or at worst the scribble strip stays blank with only a few randomly placed dots making an appearance. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure if this is relevant but if I remove the firewire cable and run the 002 in standalone mode exactly the same issues arise.

Same issue I had this week....
Digi is sending me a new power harness overnight to install. I'm sitting here waiting right now.
I guess this is a very common issue, just call up and they'll overnight a new harness and install instructions.
