Is it the 002 unit itself, or is it a noise that's coming through your speakers?

I have my 002, a Lacie D2 and an iPod all hooked up to my computer. Since I only have two firewire ports, I use the other port on the back of my Lacie for the iPod. I've noticed that when I connect or disconnect the iPod with my 002 on, I often here a sort of high, electrical-staticy sort of sound come through my monitors. It's fairly quiet, but definitely there- it usually stops after a minute or two...

Do you have something in your setup that could be causing the same sort of thing?

Cheers,
Andrew

i have just one firewire cable running from the computer direct to the 002r. i believe it is caused by some sort of software glitch... and its loud. today i left the room and returned to a almost deafening noise. its like a square wave kind of thing at about 500hz... maybe lower. i only had safari open with the manager. I quit safari, the noise was still there. I quit the manager and it disappears.

luckly i use a tdm system in the studio, so its not making this noise at clients. that would be embarrassing

anyone else had this?

Try making a new user and see if it happens on that account.

If the noise no longer appears try dumping you Digi Prefs first.

If it returns could be a wierd O.S problem try copying you entire Prefs folder to the desktop then delete the one in the Libary folder restart this should rebuild all your O.S prefs, is the noise gone?

You could then copy all the none rebuilt prefs back from the original prefrence folder now on the desk top, test it again if it remians gone problem solved delete the pref folder on the desktop empty trash restart.

thanks for the suggestions, i tried a few of these things, the hard part is that it only comes every other day... so there is no real way of testing if its fixed. it didnt do it at all today, so maybe trashing preferences helped. will see if its back tomorrow.
and its not a cell phone noise. its a constant tone.
