2022.9 -> creating new session : Path to session contains illegal characters ( " )

Getting an error when creating a new session.
1) provide a name in the session create window
2) "Prompt for location" is marked
3) press "create"
4) Save dialogue comes up with the name on top
5) Direct to ANY folder or create a blank
6) press "save"
error dialogue pops up :
"Path to session contains illegal characters ( " ) "

conclusion -> Can't create a session in ProTools 2022.9

Mac Pro 14" M1 Mac OS 12.6 -> ProTools Studio


Update : When NOT selecting "Prompt for location" and manually set location in the button "location" it seem to work

Hi !

Followed your steps but couldn't reproduce here. Try deleting preferences just in case .

1) did dump the preferences (also tried with PT Prefs 2) - > same error
2) reïnstalled over the excisting version -> Same error
3) uninstalled with cleanmymac and reïnstalled 2022.9-> Same Error
4) uninstalled 2022.9 and reïnstalled 2022.7 -> Solved with 2022.7 so ... 2022.9 does something wrong

maybe it's my French- keyboard ? (Belgium/french language setting) so I tried different keyboard settings - still no go ;-(

I'll try to install 2022.9 this weekend on my MacPro with HDX and see what the result is.

found out more about this problem.

1. It still remains in 2022.10 !
2. When I want to save on the internal disk of the MacBook Pro M1 the problem excist
3. It also excist when you want to "save as"/ "save copy"

4. BUT ! when I save a session on a removeable (USB/Thunderbolt) connected SSD all works great.

Conslusion : there is something that blocks PT from saving to the internal Disc in certain cases !

Interesting. So what is the exact full path you're trying to safe to? Looks like 2022.10 is interpretating the disk name wrongly.

doesn't matter what path. desktop or root directory or even users/documents. as long as it's on the local drive it gives me the error.

Can u create it on external drive, move it to internal and open/re-save it on internal?

Also what is exact path?

Hi Climber, doesn't matter what the path it is, can be also on the desktop. As long as you try to save on the local ssd, it gives the error. only on external disc's it works.

Tried your workarround but didn't solve the issue.

But it does matter what the path is - if you have named your internal hard drive HD"1 then it contains an illegal character. That's why we're asking.

Apparently my internal SSD was named MacBook M1Pro HD 14"
after renaming it to MacBook M1Pro HD 14inch all worked !
