Default Sustain Glitch

Hi!

I'm finding that if I end a recording, or reduce a clip size so that it ends when the sustain pedal is down/on, it remains down when I try to record more on that part, even if I use the sustain pedal.

i.e. I decide to change a piano part, so I delete the end of a clip, and when I start recording the pedal is down and wont go up.

Any thoughts - it's a minor annoyance, but hey, they all count!

Cheers folks,
Phil

Hi, There's a setting in Preferences on the MIDI tab called MIDI Merge Release Mode that you can change to Latch or Latch Until Next Event that should allow you to turn off the sustain with the pedal when you punch in. Hope that helps!

Sustain pedal data is like note data. You need pedal down and pedal up or you will be in limbo land.

Punching in with MIDI piano has been a pain since time immortal for this reason. I used to ask the player to arrive playing at the punch point to try to catch the pedal up command but it wasn't perfect.

If you show sustain data in the controller lane you will soon see if there are going to be issues when editing or where a good place to punch in is.
