Default Bomb Factory Pultec Plug In

Hi gang

Now, i know that we're all waiting patiently for Bomb Factory to update there plug ins. But while i've been waiting, i dug out my old Bomb Factory CD which has the Bomb Factory products that i got when i first got my plug ins and the ILok. I thought i'd give the Pultec EQ a 2 week trial.

Anybody have any thoughts on it? Is it just me, or did it just sound better and sweetwer than the other eqs i've used with PT? Like.. as soon as i inserted it into a track, i noticed it sounded 'nicer' or something. And the way you can boost and cut at the same time, and it works by using different curves for some reasons sounds really good in this plug in.

I was just wondering whether i was imagining it being this good, or others have had the same experience...

Looks like i'd better start saving..

MC

the real pultec is a highly prized classic piece of gear and the plug-in, much like the original, alters the sound when you insert it on a signal.

the bf plug-in is fairly close in sound to the real thing save the scratchy pots, which is an added bonus.

I just bought the Pultec plug-in about three weeks ago after loading the demo. I love it. It's great on acoustic guitars and vocals. I didn't even wait for the full demo to run it's course. I could tell real soon that it was a keeper.

Good luck...

Well.. i've just spent the day putting this Pultec plug in through it's paces. It's just fantastic. It just sounds different to other equalisers. The whole concept of it is different. It takes a little while to think about it when you start using it, and you have to read the BF user notes over and over to understand the concepts, but man.. it's the sound of so many records that i like. Once i got the hang of it even a little, the mixes i was working on sounded more like that sound.. you know.. the Rick Rubin, Tom Petty, Chilli Peppers sound, than i've gotten close to before.

I first started using it on vocals, and it sounded fantastic.. Even when i was compressing the vocals heavily, which made it quite essy, when i applied the Pultec post compressor, it attenuated the esses so smoothly. And the bottom end boost just gives your vocals body without being boxy at all. I even managed to attenuate the annoying 3-5k tone my voice has more satisfactorily than with the ren eq.

Once i was happy with that, and my mix done, i started playing with it, firstly on the drum submix, and then on the whole mix. It just works so well, and like i said, i understood THAT sound so much more.

So yeah... i'll be buying this for sure. It's not an all occasions EQ, but like all tools, works perfectly for specific things..

Bombfactory is updating their server since Monday. May this mean something on the Bomb Factory front? Hope so!

Waht I usually do for vocals, I eq the tracks a little bit with a Ren EQ and compress it with a 1176, then to warm up the track a little I use a Pultec. It works great.
