Help with cursor in LE

I can't get my playback to start from any point except the beginning of a track. Tried all the settings and there is no change. I use to be able to edit by toggling the space bar from my cursor point but now anytime I hit the space bar I go to the beginning of my track. New user.. sorry if it's a dumb question but I'm frustrated and haven't been able to find an answer. Thanks ahead of time.
