Default Software Updates + Support Plan lapse

Is studio going to stop working altogether since I did not renew, and if it does will pro tools 11 open my existing projects?

subscription stops working if you don't pay. if you fail to renew your support plan (not subscription) you will not get updates but your license keeps going as is.

There's a difference between Subscription and Perpetual licenses. In your case, checking my.avid.com/products > Pro Tools Studio shows Perpetual Product. You'll also see the license itself says Perpetual in iLok License Manager. A perpetual license does not expire, it will continue to authorize the version(s) provided during the term of your Software Updates + Support Plan even if that plan lapses.

avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/Compatibility/en353093 has info about session compatibility and interchange you might find helpful.

P.S. I'll edit the thread title to clarify since this was not a Pro Tools Subscription.
