What plugin do you use for a telephone voice type of effect?

What do you guys use when you want your adlibs to have a telephone type of effect? I use Cosmonaut Voice but I found that it does succeed at making the effect I want, but the words are no longer easy to make out or understand. When I use it, I leave the settings at the minimum. Is there something better out there? I searched before and Cosmonaut is what I came across and I bought that.

I've had good results using a high-pass and low-pass filter, and then adding a little bit of distortion using something like the Bomb Factory SansAmp PSA-1.

depending if this is a one shot deal or if you need this often, check out the demo for speakerphone at the audioease site.
it's pricey, but sick how much blood, sweat, and years they put into creating this.
for starters you can pick which phone you want and if its up to your ear or lying on a table on speaker.
also if it's clear or breaking up and on and on.

Izotope Vinyl works pretty well for this type of thing, and as far as I know, it's still a free download off the Izotope site. Set it to the 1930's setting, and then you can do more with some EQ, and use Lo-Fi to add some distortion, if desired.

Haha! Thanks, man, but unfortunately most of the guitars in the pics are not mine. They belong to some of the clients I was working with when those pictures were taken.

Oh! Well I was talking about the PT setup. It looks just like the Pro Tools room they have at Guitar Center.

Oh - I see. I haven't been in a guitar center in years! I do like my PT setup, although there's always a reason to buy more gear!

Yeah, the GC near me has a room with 2 PT setups and you can setup appointments with the PT experts there and they will sit down and give you free tutoring on it. Your's looks just like what they have. We're all gear whores!

i use Metric Halo's Channelstrip. it has a nice telephone preset to start from and then you can tweak it. and not only that, it's a fantastic powerful EQ/Compressor plug.

that Speakerphone plug-in looks really sweet too! a little pricey, but it looks very useful for music, post and entertaining myself!
