Maintenance
I have been told on 3 different occasions by Digi Tech support that you should initialize your internal HD (running Sys Fold & Pro Tools Application) every 3-6 months as regular preventive maintenance. And by not using low-level formatting option you will not destroy any authorizations you have installed. I have also been told by some veterans that running Norton "optimization" will give the same outcome.
Two questions: 1)Do I really have to initialize or can I run Norton? 2) If I have to initialize will it destroy authorizations? What about "challenge-response authorizations? I would love to hear from some of you experienced users about your success or failure in this area. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Maintenance
(I can't in good conscience respond to this question because in so doing I would admit that I've never done any drive maintenance on my system drive and if I admited that, it might hear me and decide to take a dump right before tomorrow's session to punish me for my hubris. So I can't say anything. Sorry.)
