Default DB25 Male to DB25 Female Ext. Cable

I'm in the process of rewiring my studio. I've got one DB-25 cable going to my patchbay from my 192 I/O, but is about 18 inches short. I see on Amazon where you can get DB-25 extension cables for around 10 bucks, but I don't think they are shielded properly. Anybody out there got a recommendation for me, versus just buying a longer DB-25 cable?

Those cables are not designed for audio use, won't have differential pairs and grounds laid/twisted together, etc. And extra connections never help, so no forget it, just get a proper longer cable. Lots of good source for those.

Also not all "DB-25" cables actually connect all pins, the ones you are looking at are likely designed for RS-232/serial port/modem/printer connections and may or may not connect all pins, may cross over some pins or have extra "null modem" wiring between different pins.

I'll give another reason to replace with a longer cable; do you really want to add 16 more chances of a broken signal path? Let's face it, DB25 connectors are used to save space, but not because they are robust and solid While I don't usually recommend Hosa brand, I just installed several of their DB25 cables and(so far) they are all working dandy(and are not likely to ever move)

I have a couple of those. As well as the same brand cable extenders. They work fine. Good quality. I got them from Sweetwater.

One new cable from Chris at Redco. Sell the short one on Ebay. Chris did all my SSL dl's. He's great.

You said you´re 18 inches shorter, by the picture I don´t see this adapter having that size at all, unless you have another db25 to db25 to add.

Also, I wouldn´t advise you having this type of extenders, it´s just an extra and dubious contact connection on the audio path. You spent a lot on your converter and cables and now you want to insert a piece of plastic in between. Not the best option in my opinion.

I would buy a good quality extra long db25 to db25 cable with the same pinout to replace you´re existing one, going straight from the converter I/O to the patch. I´m assuming that you have a patch with a db25 connector on the back.

Alternatively, did you ever considered (if possible) exchanging the position of your 192 on the rack, closer to the patchbay?
