OS X boot camp XP2
iMAC Core 2 Duo
OO3 2GB RAM Iomega 500GB FireWire/800 120GB Firewire/400 Oxford chip OS 10.5.1 (Shipped with 10.5 - can't run 10.4, not supported by apple) PT 7.4.cs3 Questions: I am one of the unfortunate who purchased a new mac pre-installed with 10.5. 1. Has anyone used boot camp to dual boot into Windows XP and use the windows version of Pro Tools? Apple states windows runs natively and just wonder if anyone has done this with success. 2. I've read the posts about dual booting into 10.4 but, I am unable as OS 10.4 installation disk(intel) doesn't support new MACs. Support being the key word, has anyone attempted this with success? My version of Pro Tools is running on Leopard, the issues I'm experiencing are problems with Patch presets in virtual intruments like Xpand!, Structure, and BFD not loading. Yes, I have patched all plug-ins and I know BFD is not supported. -sigh- JHamrick

Re: OS X boot camp XP2
I absolutely have...Windows runs flawlessly and likewise Pro Tools..(although I use it rarely on the Windows side)...I'm still running OS X 10.4.11 though but I doubt that makes a difference. The neat thing is with Pro Tools LE there is an option to allow MacOS formated hard disks to be seen by Windows. I think you'll be happy with that solution.
Hope this helps.. Dan |

Re: OS X boot camp XP2
Me too. Ran great. Also, Shhh... Don't tell OS X, but Pro Tools operated slightly faster on the XP boot. No big deal, but a fact on my system. How be ever, I love OS X and only tested Boot Camp for a few months out of curiosity. You can't go wrong with Boot Camp.

Re: OS X boot camp XP2
Thanks for the replies...
I used boot camp and installed XP-SP2. Love the fact that it partitions the drive for Windows without having to reinstall MAC OS. Loaded ProTools, I agree - Nice option being able to view and utilize HFS+ drives. All my plug-ins are working!!! Now I can do sessions in both environments (MAC and XP). ATTENTION ALL NEW MAC OWNERS - use boot camp and run Pro Tools in XP! At least that is what I am going to do until my new MAC is supported by Digi... Thanks again guys!!!
