Pro tools and m-audio torq won't open at the same time-HELP?

pro tools won't open when torq is open and torq won't open when pro tools is open.

a popup window says that protools or torq quit unexpectadly

mac g5 dual 1.8 with 2G ramosx 10.9.4

so far i tried:
-opening them in a different order
-installing 10.4.9 manually (not through the updater)
-fixing permissions (after i did that, pro tools takes like 3 tries to open - it cycles through finding the files a coupla times, then stays open) but no luck

any ideas? (i'm on a deadline for a mixtape project)

are you using the torq xponent?

unless torq is in rewire mode, i dont think you can open it at the same time as pro-tools. this applies if you set the audio output of torq to your core audio drivers. if its set to your system speakers you should be able to open torq and PT at the same time.

if anyone else has more info that would be great. i would realy love to get the torq exponent sometime at the end of the year, but its quite new on the market so not many boards have actual user experience stories to go through

so there is no way for me to record myself scratching using torq on a protools track?.
