Default Performing live with Pro Tools

Hi all,

Today's problem is about performing live with Pro Tools LE. I would like to play live guitar along to backing tracks, using Plug-ins as guitar effects with automation. But tracks have to be record-enabled to monitor input signals, and this disables automation reading. Is there a way to prevent automation from disabling itself when the track is record-enabled? If so, I could make plug-in changes that match the structure of the backing track.
To sum-up, does anyone manage to use Pro Tools as a live multi-effect with automation? (Wouldn't it be nice? )
Thanks in advance.

Just a thought and dont know if it works, but

Create an audio track for recording and then an aux track for automation. Then set the
output of th audio track to the input of the aux track and then do all the automation on the
aux track. Wouldn't protools then record on the audio track and read all the automation on
the aux track and thereby effecting your audio signal ?

Dont know if above will work, just an idea.

best wishes
