Performing Live

I'm looking to use Virtual Instruments with Pro Tools to perform live with a MIDI Controller.

Is there any way to switch Virtual Instruments with the MIDI Controller or a foot switch? Like, say, what if I want to go from playing live one synth sound and then jump to another?
