Default Hardware Insert Issue-Error Message on I/O

Good evening,
Just out and purchased a BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer and I am trying to add to Protools LE 6.1. What do I need to do in the I/O settings to get this routed correctly?

I am getting the error: "The H/W insert could not be made active because its output(s) is being used by another active output or insert."

Is this talking about the normal plug-ins?
Sorry for the newbie questions, but everybody was a newbie once...

Thanks in advance for the replies,

Ian

If you have an MBox you're out of luck.. for any other Digi hardware select another unused I/O pair for your hardware insert.

CRAP!

Well, what are the insert plugs on the back of the unit (Mbox) for then? It explains in the manaul that you can do it, but does not describe how to do it.

Thanks,

Ian

The inserts for the Mbox are for inserting a HW processer in the input path. After the preamp and before the converter. You need an insert cable that breaks a TRS connector out to 2 unbalanced connectors.Plug the stereo end into the Mbox and the corresponding ends into the I/O of your processor.

You can pick these cables up pretty much anywhere they sell audio gear.Just tell them you want an Insert cable.
