Default trying to slave my drum machine to my 002?

im running a midi cord from midi out of the 002 to midi in on my alesis drum machine in hopes of getting my drum machine to start when i hit play/record on the 002......am i overlooking something? thanks chas

Check that you're sending MIDI clock out on that interface.
I've done it several times, using 002 and Alesis SR16.

thanks Tele.....my midi data indicators on top my 002 are all not lit...if the clock your speaking of was on one of those ports i assume it would be lit....is that what your talking about? and if it is how do i activate the clock to a midi out port? sorry this stuff baffles me....chas

Go to the MIDI menu:

MIDI->MIDI Beat Clock...

and enable the clock and select an output port.

You're not trying to use MTC are you.. that's a different answer.

Rail im with you on the enabling the clock part but i dont get how to select the output port...

Which version of Pro Tools and what Digi hardware are you running?

If you go to the menu item I instructed, you should find a check box at the top to enable the MIDI beat clock.. and a list of available MIDI ports.. with empty check boxes on heir left.. select the port in the list you want to use.. and check it.

ok i thought something was missing.....heres what my options are in the midi beat clock window....at the top it says enable midi clock for.....then down below are 2 selections only...one is microsoft gs wavetable sw synth and the only other option is called mpu-401...am i missing some options? thanks bigtime! chas

Download my 002 startup app and quit Pro Tools.. use my app to start Pro Tools and your MIDI ports will be available. Update to 6.1.1 to avoid this in the future (and you won't need my utility).
