Did you do a proper uninstall and then install of the new HD driver?

Try running the software without the HDX or HD Native card. Does the system run smooth then?

I would start with a complete uninstall of everything, including the HD driver and then reinstall.

In the future, I would avoid installing new versions of Pro Tools over old versions on Windows. This is asking for trouble. Always do an uninstall first.

Have you tried uninstalling (or at least moving to unused folder) ALL 3rd party plugs? I'd uninstall Pro Tools AND all 3rd party plugs. Reinstall PT + stock AVID plugs & test. Go to the first plug vendor's site, download & install latest version & test. Repeat for each vendor.

Yes. Ditto for 3rd party plugs.

I uninstalled everything avid related, deleted all avid folders everywhere. Fresh install, slowly re-installed plugins checking along the way. So far so good. Thanks

well the problem is back. Was fine for a number of sessions. Can't totally make sense of what is causing it, too many moving factors. I went back to a mix session that was problematic last week before I uninstalled and it took 25 minutes for it to open (no joke). The same session was opening fine after I reinstalled everything a few days ago at that point I and had almost every plugin installed that I do now. I just installed the air bundle and a couple others today, could be one of those. What's weird is I uninstalled the plugins I installed today but its still taking forever to load. It's like something got corrupted. May need to fresh install again. Not sure. I do know the previous version of protools I had all these same plugins installed plus even more and it never had this issue, so something new is tweaking it out.

Since you are in troubleshooting mode, I suggest you methodically do one troubleshooting step at a time until the problem is isolated.
1) Uninstall ALL things PT & all 3rd party plugs. Run CCleaner & CCleaner reg cleaner. Take ALL Windows updates & run a full spyware scan. At this point, take a boot drive image (Macrium Reflect free version is fine). Make sure you know how to restore the image, if need be.
2) Install PT and stock plugs only. All AVID optimizations and also all AVID troubleshooting steps - do not skip a single one. Test test test. Take yet another boot image.
3) Do an import session data from the suspect session into a brand new empty session. This will determine if the session itself is corrupt.
4) Install one of your 3rd party plugin venders. Make sure to install by going to the manufacturer website and get the current version. Test test test. Import session data from the suspect session into a brand new empty session. Take another boot image.
5) Repeat for each 3rd party plug.

UPDATE : I ultimately gave up on the new version of protools. I reverted back to 2021.6 and copy pasted my old plugin folder back in and it works perfect.
