PT12 and El Capitan

I am having problems getting El Capitan to recognize my Eleven Rack.

It doesn't show up in the Sound preference pane and it is always listed as "device not connected" in the Avid Eleven Rack preference pane.

Rebooting, unplugging, etc... nothing seems to make a difference.

But Pro Tools 12.2 seems to be unaffected by the GM. In earlier versions I couldn't get it to finish launching.

So the problems I mentioned regarding the S3 scribble strips not working is confirmed on 12.2 as well. But the meters work again.

MIDI setup in Mac OS is not working yet midi in PT seems to be operational - even though PT 12.2 hangs for 5 minutes on startup at the Midi Setup point near the end of start up.

Still getting CPU errors like on 11.3.1 on Yosemite. In fact I see absolutely no difference between 11.3.1 and 12.2. Nothing is better.

you are braver than i am .. i am sticking with mavericks until it falls off the list UNLESS El Capitan is a Leaner and Meaner OS .. like Tiger, and Snow Leopard were, nice and fast .. yo sa mite is a hog imho ..

Running ElCap betas on a test SSD for a while now. Latest version is very quick, but a clean install of system apps is the go (as usual). Biggest deal breaker for me is that the Universal Audio firewire drivers don't work (so, no FW Apollo in this case). Otherwise, DAWs seem quite happy.

The positive reports make me hopeful that I'll be able to move to El Capitan sooner than the normal 6 month waiting period for new OS debug. I regret every moving to Yosemite. It has been absolutely awful for audio. It's not bad enough to be completely broken - just terribly annoying. Mountain Lion seemed much better. I think features like adding cell calls through the computer via handoff are probably to blame. Of course for a DAW, that is the first thing you'd turn off. But I think whatever they did in coreaudio to enable it in the first place is causing issues for me.

Cmd+shift+I import does not work here, import via drag and drop works!

And it seems that sessions with Melodyne do not close correctly (you can save the sessions without problems) and PT crashes during closing the session AFTER saving.

I have received emails today from both Native Instruments and Slate Digital advising against upgrading to Capitan due to numerous issues.

That said I may put together a Yosemite drive since I am still on Mavericks. It is my experience that keeping an OS behind is best practice for reliability.
