Rackmounting a Mac Pro

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the Marathon products now Marathon are no more?

I've found these: -

But know nothing about either of them.

I'm about to buy an HD3 rig but it needs to be portable. The alternative is to get something like this: -

And have 2 cases.

Keep in mind if you want to use the CD/DVD player, it won't work laying on it's side. I found that out the hard way. Pretty obvious, unless your not thinking about it. Cheers

Yeah, the Redco one will mount the Mac vertically in the case at least.

To follow that up, I'd originally thought of having 2 cases, but then changed my mind and was leaning towards one with a marathon mount in it.

I'm now leaning back the other way as having a dedicated computer case and a separate rack looks good to me now.

I would still like info on the 2 rackmounting products available though, if anyone has any?

Would the tray from the isobox work in another case? The site seeme to indicate so. How do you think it would handle life on the road if it did?

I may be wrong but I think the IsoBox one uses short rack rails in the box given the OD of a G5/MacPro is about 20"
I know someone that just got some of the Redco (I think they are) I'll report back tomorrow evening

other than esthetics, is there any reason you could not turn the Digi I/Os on there side and use the 6ru of rack rails that the Redco provides?

None at all. They even recommend it.

It's more the way they secure the mac into the frame, doesn't look that strong if the flightcase is being tipped onto it's side or moved about or whatever.

But that's an impression from a picture.

The Mac just lays sideways on the Isobox tray. It is not secured to the tray and the tray slides in and out. The tray does not lock into position, so it wouldn't be a good option for travel.
