Default need your recommendations on choosing home studio monitor speakers

I just got a digi 001and will be using it to record acousitc guitar, synths, a proteus, and vocals, in a home studio environment. Its a fairly dead room with carpet on the floor. I want to create good mixes.

What speakers do you guys feel I should use as monitors?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to comment!

I would strongly recommend the Mackie HR824's. They are powered and work quite well with the 001.

I have a pair of NS-10's that I'd be happy to part with though if anyone is interested. I cannot stand the sound of them after switching to the Mackies.

Real pleased with the KRK V8s.
Same kinda powered deal as above.
Sorta gotta decide what you're spending.
Heard a guy running pair of PMC's off of an 01V, which also sounded really very good. cheaper than this range of Mackie/KRKs but not powered blah blah. Dunno what amp.
Alesis 'Monitor 1s' confusing in vocal area-
(the mastering engineer said "...monitor 1's, right?" smartass)
as for aNuS 10s....

Beats me.
Most of us home operators get to find out how monitors work in our rooms one way...
Professional advice can leave you as bewildered as the number opinions you get.
Web for reviews and specs and pro studios and other home studios were what I had to go on.
V8s. V6s lighter on in the lows from what I could glean...from data
I dunno. Compare the similarly specd Haflers and Genelecs for price.
I've heard the Haflers. Real good but they were sitting on a big Amek desk with superb production going on so... ya know.

Thanks guys I am price shopping at this point. The V8s are looking good, so are the Mackies. There are some real deals out there.
