recorded midi is ahead by 1/32 note!
Couple of issues here.
1 A session originally recorded in 7.4 on Tiger when opened in PT8 had this problem: The drum track was being triggered live from Reason 4 (latest version) and arriving in PT via an Instrument channel. The track was playing about one 32 note ahead of the rest of the track. When I looked at the midi notes they were perfectly on the beat. Now sometimes I have to delay certain VI about 10 or so milliseconds because they trigger faster than others but this was so out of whack that I had to manually shift it. But before I did I replaced Reason with Addictive Drums. Same thing happening!! So the midi looks correct but is triggering ahead of the beat. I messed with Delay compensation. Went from short to long. No difference. Turned it off, no difference. 2 And this is even stranger. Today on a track started in PT8 I was recording a midi part with Omnisphere. I played the part in and thought I was in the pocket. On playback the part was 1/32 note in front of where I played it. So in one song the midi looks correct but plays in front and in the other I play correctly but the midi is recorded ahead of the beat and appears that way. (input quantize is turned off) So that's some new behavior. Anyone seen this before? Am I missing something obvious here? (I'll admit I'm a bad dancer but I'm usually "behind" the beat. Never forward!!!)) |

Re: recorded midi is ahead by 1/32 note!
Check Midi real-time properties for the track and Midi offsets in the Events menu.
I have found that opening sessions from others brings in their settings and I have had them stay after moving to or creating another session. If you don't find anything here, trash all the midi prefs with the Pro Tools prefs and database helper. |

Re: recorded midi is ahead by 1/32 note!
As I suspected it was a simple thing. I had changed my buffer to 1024 and that's where the problem is.
It's always the change of routine that gets you. |
