Default automation frustration.....

Hey dudes and dude-ettes....

Just getting my legs with PT 8.0.3 right now, finding some automation weirdness. when cutting/separating/moving/importing regions automation data is being written on the outside boundaries of each region. I then have to delete any values I want to change for mixing. Is there a preference to set to disable this behaviour? Also on imported tracks there are automation points written at the session start. Seems like I need to write an automation point and then select all and delete to make it go away. Doesn't work consistently and must be done for all controllers/Channels. Is there a global delete automation command?? Thanks!

That's true, just to add: If you use «Import Session Data» to import regions on tracks you can decide if automation should be imported with the track or not. E.g. you can choose to import pan automation but to get rid of volume and mute automation.

Hi,

This usually only happens if 1. you have already written or have an automation breakpoint somewhere which has changed the level of the track!! 2, you have automation follows edit selected in the options menu
