Question 2 Part Question : regarding Avantone Mixcubes studio monitors

I am planning on purchasing 2 sets of monitors for an expanded ability for mixdowns.

1. - Yamaha HS50M
2. - Avantone Mixcubes

as you can see I already own [Events 20/20 Monitors & Mackie HR824 Monitors]
and I recently purchased [MS40 Digital Monitors] - got'um for $50 bucks new
and I could not pass that up.
but these are boomy., and are really intended for [Mid-Field]
and not [Near-Field]

I need something to help in over all mixdown levels.

Q: What are your honest experiences with these [HS50M & Mixcubes] monitors.?

Also,
Every store I have gone to, for some reason they don't have
Avantones Mixcubes on display and for testing.

I wanted to really know how are the Avantones Mixcubes really are, honestly.
Are they just hype, or are they good as the hyped up advertisements say.

Quote:
I never believe any advertisement on any product.
they tend to hype up and sometimes even over exaggerate their product just to sell it.
I know first hand and this is why I rely mostly on what people say and experience.
"word of mouth"
Are they worth the money that stores are asking for these little things.?

Thank you for your time.

I have no experience with either of these monitors but click the link for a review of the Avantone Mixcube that may help you decide.

Probably because monitors is such a personal call. If you REALLY REALLY get to know your monitors, pretty much any decent monitor will yield good results. I use big/med/small monitors, plus quality headphones, and constantly swith between all 4 during mixing. Finally, buy a pair of these:

I learned to mix years ago in a studio that had a set of the original Auratones. I was taught to use them to make sure the mids didn't get too crowded and the vocals were clearly heard. They really are like a magnifying glass for midrange.

I've got a set of powered Avantones now and they do the same job. They help you focus in on the crux of the mix without the distraction of the super lows and super highs. They shouldn't be your only set of monitors, but they really help the process.

Producers come in with their own nearfields all the time, usually an old set of Yamaha NS10s. But they are not for everyone.

+1. Years ago, I also used Auratones. Today I use a set of cheap Radio Slack speakers for the same purpose.

I was going to get NS10m's, but the cost was too high.
People are now selling those like Mansions.
And also I don't like the stripped cable idea, then having to use an amp.
Aswell as all the cabling that goes with it.

Reason why I did not by the DBX-160X,
but instead went with DBX-160-A.
I just hate the open cable thing on speakers and gear.

Not to mention the cost of the tweeters now a days @ $129+shipping bucks a pop.
NS10m's tends to snap too quick and I have seen tweeters go like candy.

The reason, I am looking at the Yamaha HS50m.

You said "used"

Does that mean, you got rid of them, and why.?
Besides the obvious "price".

I am just curious why you got rid of them, "If you did"
and why you now use Radio Shack monitors.
and what made you come to that conclusion, or should I say Decision.?
