EUCON 2022.12 - SoftKeys YES!

This option is terribly misnamed. It isn't actually what it says.
It only shows colors for toggle options (for instance clear clip --- in colour when clipped, clear solo -- in color when something solo-ed, no scroll, continuous scroll, layout selected, suspend faders -- suspended color on, no suspend no color.) Binary options.
It's not like the softkeys on the dock that show the color of the softkey assigned.

It's confusing.

Yes, they light up when pressed, or stay lit, depending on the function.

I think I'm with BScout. They should present their colour like in eucon control on the dock.

This is exactly how I’d expect it to behave. I don’t want the key showing a color if I don’t have anything solo-ed. I’ve always understood it as such. If I have AC on my S1, the names and colors of the soft keys show up on the meters.

I think what a lot of people would expect is the colors on the meter strips match the colors on the buttons so you can quickly identify the button (that distance from strip to button is pretty long and, depending on tablet, the alignment isn't precise.)

For toggles (ones that blink on the Dock softkeys), it makes sense to light up only when active (though they could stay lit and blink when active to stay with the same paradigm -- I'm a sucker for consistency.)
For soft keys that aren't toggles, it doesn't make sense to have them not light at all and the option description in Eucontrol gives no hint that is what is going to happen.

And, yes, I know some people hate blinking lights but I think that is the lesser of two evils.
I'm guessing two different options, chosen by the user, of "soft keys always lit/blink when active" and "soft keys lit only when active" would be possibly hard to program. But at least my description is less confusing than the option as labeled now.

A lot of people will want transport buttons on these like record....imagine having the red light on all the time...even when not in record. There are many instances of this.

I remember a time when the physical button for record on hardware was red and no one had a single issue with that.

(And a blinking button would still indicate actually being in record)

I think it would be better to have the option depending on user. Always lit or only lit when on. The labels on the meters are great but what makes them much more useful is if there is a connection to the button at the bottom of the S1 indicated by color.

I have been trying to break EUCON 2022.12 since installing and other than some miswritten softkey assignments that I was able to fix, it is working really well. For example, the new track softkey assignments were not right - easy for me to correct.

Since I updated to the EUCONTROL 2022.12 version, the key shortcuts both with individual letters or combinations with the shift, Control, Alt/opt, win/cmd, etc. keys. They stopped working.
I deleted them and recreated them and they still don't react.

I'm on Win11 so just tried this and its working Ok. Can you try to make a few keys in Word or TextEdit to make sure they are coming through?
