Default Upgrade Question

I am planning to upgrade my HD3 accel to HDX1. My current interface is an Apogee Rosetta 800 with X-HD connection.

I want to expand from 8-in/8-out to 24-in/24-out. I was thinking of adding a Lynx Aurora with LT-HD. I would then "daisy chain" these with the expansion port on the X-HD.

Does anyone know whether this will work? Will ProTools see these as two distinct HD I/Os?

I have absolutely zero knowledge about the Lynx box, but Rosetta 800 XHD works perfectly. Once you update the firmware to latest 3.00 it shows up as Avid HD interface.

That said; it should work. I can't see why not. But I don't know anything about Lynx.

You should probably contact Lynx and check with them. I believe they updated drivers for compatibility with HDX recently, but I'm not sure.

Thanks JFreak and nst7. I will follow up with Lynx on this scenario. Everything I have read indicates that each of these boxes should work with HDX. I'm mostly concerned with mixing them on the same digi-link chain.

I also noticed that the firmware for Apogee X-HD (v3.0) has a disclaimer that only 2 devices can be connected to a ProTools card. Since I am going to HDX1(just one card) I don't think I can go with 3 Rosettas to get to 24 channels of I/O which would have been my preference. Has anyone run into this limit with Apogee devices?

HDX and HDN kind of have "two PT cards", as in they have two digilink ports. Remember, those XHD's have been around when HD cards only had (and still have) one digilink port. So I bet that's what it means, that only two Apogees for one digilink port.

You could however ask Apogee for clarification, but I bet I'm guessing this right
