Default iLok Problems

I recently purchased an HP Z400 to run the HD2 system that was previously in my G5. I transferred the cards and installed the software and am having problems with my ilok.

The ilok is a first generation blue one that came with the core card when I purchased the system. The ilok isn't connected to my ilok account but has a license for 8 hd that worked fine on my G5. I would sometimes have issues on the G5 where the ilok wasn't lit but would be fine after unplugging it and reinserting.

When I inserted the ilok on my pc it would light for a moment and I would receive a prompt stating that the ilok was not recognized by the computer. I installed the latest ilok software which didn't help. My other 2 second generation iloks work fine with the computer. They are recognized by the computer and as an experiment I uninstalled pro tools hd, installed pro tools 9 and used one of my other iloks and everything worked fine.

Has anyone had similar issues with first generation iloks? Are there separate drivers for first and second generation iloks? Are there any particular issues with windows 7 x64? Also now that when I plug the ilok into my g5 for testing it's light just flashes. I'm assuming the ilok may just be faulty but figured I'd look for a solution before I give in and try to find a new software license. Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide.

Hi,

When you open the ilok manager, does it see the ilok connected? even if its not attached to your account the ilok manager will still see it.

if the computer is not seeing then it could be caput! or keep trying, maybe a different USB socket? obviously not through a him so direct to the computer.

If you are new to Windows machines, there are 2 things that might help;
#1-one of the required system tweaks is to disable Power Management on all USB ports(called USB Root Hub in Device Manager).
#2-if your PC has any USB3 ports(the blue ones), don't use iLok on a USB3 port as those are known to have issues talking
